30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 17

Just a quick sketch for today. Ive been working on a sculpey creature for most of the day, figured I would whip up an odd being for today. I could take a photo of the sculpey creature as it is right now to let you see it so far but, nah.

30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 16

Today I started a super sculpey sculpture. I made the wire mesh and let it dictate the direction of the design. It came to show me that it will be somewhat humanoid but with three legs. Then I could see some sort of spider mutant thing. So I began laying on the sculpey. I layed out the ribcage and muscles of the torso and upper arms. It wasnt working, so I pulled it all off to start again. This happened at least three times until finally I was happy with the torso and arms. I began on its legs and found it was time to go home from work. So Ill finish it tomorrow.
In the mean time I wanted to see what it would look like so I quickly threw together a quick Zbrush sculpture. Man Zbrush is easy to work with! This is just a very rough look but it conveys the design enough for me...

30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 15

This little guy would be a Zbrush sculpture.  I was thinking of a frogman when I put this together.  I didnt want it to be a frog walking upright, just to have some characteristics of a frog.  Not much deep thoughts went alog with this creation accept that I need to be doing more.  More anatomy, more animal studies, more sketching from life.  I think I might take this guy further with color and scene so stay tuned I should get better...

30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 14

Feeling a bit depressed today, finding myself trapped in this reality.  I came to the conclusion that life is living in a constant state of fantasy, with the goal to avoid the reality that there are only two states in life, on or off.  You live in this fantasy yet one day you will have to face the reality that all it has been is you trapped and there is only one way out. 
So this little guy is a representation of that and the separateness one feels when pondering such thoughts.  He is an odd demon boy trapped, pondering the fact of his reality.

30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 13

Just a bit of a zbrush bust here.  I added a smiley version of this guy too.  I figured he wanted to smile.  As far as creation goes, he was done while I watched a bunch of Bill Hicks footage and the beginning of Super High Me. 
I find its pretty easy to do stuff while your doing nothing.  What I mean by that is watching a movie could be sitting around doing nothing but, why not sculpt or draw something or whatever you do, while doing that nothing.

30 Creatures in 30 Days - Day 12

Well this is working out well in the sense that nothing is precious anymore.   Cant wait for the moment when these drawings become completely free.  I find it hard to cloth them...The naked look just works so well for me.  I dunno why but I feel clothes dont make the man in this case.  I want to see who they are before the clothes...then I guess any outfit is suitable.

I want to do more full body creatures rather than marqettes.  I do like marqettes but I think more full body stuff would be good practice.  So here I guess Im still playing safe by going with human-ish anatomy.  Maybe tomorrow Ill be a bit more adventurous.
